Are you a student interested in science or health care as a career? You might be interested to apply to NOSM’s Health Sciences Summer Camp and can still do so as the application deadline has been extended to April 21st.
The camps will be located during the following times:
July 10-14 at Laurentian Campus in Sudbury
July 17-21 at Lakehead Campus in Thunder Bay
The main goal of the HSSC is to raise youth awareness about the variety of health careers open to them and provide students who might not otherwise have the opportunity to explore science while being mentored by current medical learners in a fun camp setting. We strongly encourage youth to begin thinking about the career direction they want to pursue, in an attempt to realize their career/professional goals. The HSSC week will be filled with exciting activities such as casting, crime scene investigation, DNA analysis, blood analysis, A Day in the Life of Med Student, other CSI components, and more.
The Camp is offered to high school students who will be going into Grade 10 and 11 in September 2017. Eligibility is based on level of interest rather than grades or test scores.Applications are due by April 21, 2017. Accepted applicants will be contacted by NOSM by April 28, 2017 and will be required to submit a non-refundable registration fee of $400 by May 26, 2017 in order to reserve their spot at camp. Lunches and snacks will be provided during the camp. Selected participants are responsible for their accommodation for the week and transportation to and from the camp.
We are offering bursaries to Indigenous applicants who are selected. They can indicate their interest in receiving a bursary on the application form.
