GCHS Students Win Regional Student Achievement Award

Congratulations to Mia Audio-Gagnon, Shannon Nadeau, Brianna Payne and Alanna Koning, four GCHS Grade 10 students who won the 2015 OSSTF Student Achievement Award for Region 1 in the Digital Arts category of the Creative Division.

The OSSTF Student Achievement Awards in Honour of Marion Drysdale is an award that for the past 40 years has highlighted the creative work of students in Ontario’s education system. The awards honour works in poetry & prose, visual arts, and digital arts. OSSTF Region 1 includes the regions of Kenora, Fort Frances, Dryden, Sioux Lookout, Thunder Bay, Greenstone, and the north shore of Lake Superior.

The theme of this year’s Student Achievement Awards was “Transforming Character(s)”.

Congratulations and thanks to their supervisor, Mr. Haslam, who guided the team through their creative process.

  1. Congratulations to Mia, Shannon, Brianna and Alanna (and Mr. Haslem) of GCHS for this achievement. The work that you engaged by creating this video was powerful; the video itself truly evoked a strong emotion when I viewed it. The music, the scene selection and the acting combined to achieve that result (in my opinion!). Thank you for dealing with such an important subject area. I hope that this video can be seen in all of our schools. Another impressive production from GCHS! What a significant achievement!
